Welcome
Kathleen Mowery
Teaching is my passion, and I have been very privileged to work in the Early Childhood Education field for more than fourteen years. My career as a teacher started in Crested Butte, Colorado, in 1997 as an educational assistant in a toddler program. In 2000, my husband and I moved to Edwards, Colorado where I worked at the Family-Learning Center as a group leader. Over the next couple of years, I advanced to being the supervisor of four different toddler classrooms. My husband and I started our own family in 2003, and I spent the next seven years at home with my own two children. After entering the workforce again in 2010, I was pleased to work part-time in the mornings at Lake Preschool, as a one-on-one educational assistant for a student. In the afternoons I spent my time volunteering in many different classrooms at Lake School and Gunnison Elementary School. The following year, I was hired as a full-time educational assistant in a three-year-old classroom at Lake School. Over the next several years, I advanced from an educational assistant to being a group leader in the preschool program. In 2014, I was pleased to accept a position teaching the half-time kindergarten students in the morning. Today I teach kindergarten full time where I created a safe, positive learning environment that fosters independence through developmentally appropriate activities, and scaffold instruction.
